Mitchell & Shea, APC, one of California's leading Workers' Compensation and Personal Injury law firms, is currently representing several former NFL players and conducting an ongoing investigation into the long term effects of concussions and other work related injuries suffered by former NFL players and the relationship between those concussions and cognitive degenerative symptoms such as memory loss, depression, dementia, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and other like conditions and injuries. This research will be used to further assess which entities, if any, were negligent in failing to exercise their duties to protect former players by failing to advise players or regulate post-concussion medical treatment before returning to work.
Specifically, the failure to maintain basic safety practices in design, production and use of equipment given to NFL players has resulted in a number of head injuries. It is further alleged that NFL teams failed to disclose to their players the risk of concussions and their long term effects. Many past and current players were never properly notified of their rights to file claims for Workers' Compensation benefits, and never instructed of their benefit entitlements under the Workers' Compensation system. As a result, many NFL alumni have been left with permanent physical disabilities, and without medical coverage and financial compensation.
If you are a former NFL player with information concerning this matter, and have information you are willing share with Mitchell & Shea, APC to assist this investigation, please email us with your contact information and we will get back to your right away.

Our firm has recently turned our focus to the representation of NFL Alumni to obtain Workers' Compensation benefits. Our specific intent is to pursue continuous trauma claims in California for NFL players who have sustained injuries during their playing career in the NFL.
Even if you didn't play for a California NFL team, you may still be able to bring a claim in California. Furthermore, even if you have been out of the NFL for years and your injuries relate to games played in the 70s, 80, or 90s, you may still be able to make a claim in California. Please call us to discuss your particular situation.
We will make ourselves available for a consultation to any player who feels they may have sustained a continuous trauma injury from their playing days and would like to obtain some general information regarding their potential rights.
